What should I wear at the session? back to top ^

What should be worn: Choose a color theme (solid colors are best) and clothing style that are representative of your family. Avoid wearing green color if possible. Simple clothing is best, avoid patterns or stripes. Long sleeves work best and are recommended for adults to focus attention on the face. Short sleeves are fine for infants and children. Keep in mind that white clothing may add the look of extra weight; dark colors tend to be slenderizing. Dark-colored slacks or skirts with matching hosiery are normally most flattering for women.

For couples and families, coordinating colors give a feeling of connection and comfort. Denim and khakis always give a timeless feel to any portrait. Babies who are not yet sitting up look best in simple one-piece outfits or nothing at all. Toddlers and younger children should bring a classic outfit and a “fun” outfit (dress up, and costumes are always fun). For maternity portraits, button down solid color shirts, nightgowns, and robes are best.

Simple hairstyles and natural makeup are best. Hair should be trimmed neatly, but not cut within 48 hours of the portrait sitting.
